MEET Sarah Blakeslee
I have been in Great Danes for 18 years; my parents first bought a pet puppy. The breeder had asked them to try out showing. They did and from there I feel in love with showing. I started in juniors with Caesar at 10 years old. After 2 years of showing Caesar in juniors, I got my first puppy. Sunset’s Holmes of Sodapop CGC TDI, Holmes and I made a great junior team; we did AKC shows and 4H. Holmes helped me to learn so much in handling, and the breed. I was ranked #1 Great Dane Junior, #7 Working Junior for 1997, as well as, Best Junior at the 1997 nationals. We also took Grand Champion 2 years in a row at State Fair in 4H. To date I have owned/co-owned 10 Danes, and 3 Smooth Fox Terriers. I have owner handled one of my Danes to his Championship, Believer’s Me N My Shadow V. Ebon CGC {Ashes}. Along with Ashes I have finished other Danes and other breeds. I took some time off from showing to go to Pennsylvania Culinary and graduated with an Associates Degree in Culinary Arts in 2000. After coming home from school, I continued showing and started volunteering in 4H. I taught Showmanship for the dog program for 8 years, in the time I was teaching I continued showing. Some of my 4H students took an interest in AKC events from juniors and breed to performance events. I am awaiting my regular status for all breed junior showmanship judging and have been honored to judge sweepstakes for a few clubs. I am glad to have had the many mentors in the breed and hope to continue learn as much as I can about our breed. I enjoyed teaching 4H and give back some of what I have learned, along with learning new things from those around me. I am currently showing Nikolodeon’s NorthStar(z) American Girl CGC, TDI{Starlett}, and Can./Am. Ch. SVF’s We’ll Always Have Paris ‘N Starz CGC in CKC. I starting showing Nikolodeon’s K-Sera NHL Allstar(z) MVP {Sabre} in March 2009.
